Building on the introductory webinar, DHK Costa Rica hosted the Meet & Greet – Rail Sustainability: Trains in Costa Rica on 30 July 2026. The event brought together representatives from the public and private sectors, international organizations, financial institutions, engineering and consulting firms, and railway-related organizations to exchange ideas, establish new connections, and explore business opportunities in Costa Rica’s railway sector.

A key highlight of the evening was the presentation by Lic. Federico Villalobos Carballo, an economist and infrastructure financing specialist with more than 20 years of experience in the development and evaluation of infrastructure initiatives across Latin America. His presentation provided insights into the future of rail transport in Costa Rica and its contribution to the country’s sustainable development. Participants also had the opportunity to ask questions and exchange views during an interactive discussion.

The event concluded with a networking dinner, providing participants with an informal setting to continue conversations, establish new contacts, and prepare for the upcoming conference. As an important networking activity within the programme, the Meet & Greet fostered dialogue between key stakeholders and strengthened the network among participants ahead of the subsequent programme activities.
